Great progress is being made in Burundi and neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo – the poorest nations on earth (World Bank and IMF tables - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(nominal)_per_capita ) :
1. Martin Baskerville is bravely returning to both countries in mid-September taking copies of easy and veryeasy French, Swahili and Kirundi. The veryeasyFrench is being improved by our new friend Walter who grew up in the Congo and in New Zealand – with a Masters degree from New Zealand. He may then have time to move onto easyFrench – but he also works as a missionary in a difficult country. Martin will encourage independent revision of the Swahili and Kirundi.
2. My friend Bishop Evariste Numbi from Lubumbashi, visiting Kinshasa, tells me that ‘Deacon Jules Lowuya Enzimba of the Christ church of Congo (ECC) also the president of board directors of the “Fleuve Congo University” which was created by him to help waterside population in education’ wishes to work with us to publish a much-needed revised New Teatament in the Bobangi language for the Western Congo region.
