Tues 7 th and Wed 8th

We moved our fastingday to Tuesday 7th Feb when i handed over leadership of ‘easyBibles for Africa’ to this African team. I’ve left it to them to decide exactly what to name February 7th as – but for now it’s  ‘EasyBibles for  Africa Day’

Yesterday, i packed and retrurned with Steven Kaombe to Lusaka. Steven is collecting labtops and returning today to Kabwe (less than 2 hours by bus) to help finish the Conference.

Before i left – they insisted that i help appoint the new team – so i gave them 30 minutes but the team was so obvious it appointed itself. Pastor Ignatious (Acts Bible Church, Kabwe, Zambia) is a marvellous pastor and leader. He will be Chairman, assisted by Pastor Erin – his friend for many years and pastor of a church in the city centre. Bishop Evariste Numbi (DRC) will be asked to be President. This Bishop does not speak English but would be accompanies by Pastor Elie (his interpreter). Steven and i enjoyed meeting them in Ndola on Saturday. They are important people for easyBibles.

Steven and Pastor Elie will be asked to be Senior Translators for easyBibles.

So the centre of the new team will start with these five people – sorry all men at present. But i urged that the whole team should grow to be more ecumenical and inclusive. This was agreed. I hope to get news of the whole Starting Team and real date of the ‘November Conference’ soon and i’ll publish unfolding news on this site – but we hope soon for a new website for Africa. Important people to discuss this with are the Zimbabwe team – yet to arrive at Kabwe.

Those who have arrived so far have been from Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi, DRC, and Zambia. We expect Zimbabwe still to come – by car. Email supporters ( who might well attend in Nov (or whenever) include Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Algeria and Ghana (sorry about the Africa cup – Zambia have just beaten them in the semi-finals)…

I’ve had another wonderful reception by my Comboni friends in Lusaka.

Since i wrote this blog – 2 hours ago i’ve read of a second man i shall meet at Addis Ababa airport on my way home. So, i will recommend to the African leaders of ‘easyBibles for Africa’, that Ethiopia are now full members of ‘KABWE’ too.

Zemen and his team are relaunching easyOromo – the largest language in Addis Ababa itself. Halleluyah!!
